DOKUFEST OPENS THE HUMAN RIGHTS
FILM FACTORY
PROGRAM! 

We are glad to announce that DokuFest has opened its call for applications as part of the project “Human Rights Film Factory – Human Rights Stories From the Kosovo Margins”, a EU funded project managed by the European Commission Liaison Office to Kosovo and implemented by DokuFest.

 

We would like to invite emerging filmmakers from Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro to submit their documentary projects at initial phase or early stage of development.

The projects should directly or indirectly touch upon the issues of universal human rights, either by promoting them or showing their violations.

The selected filmmakers will be invited to Prizren, to a series of workshops and master classes, including one during the upcoming edition of DokuFest, to further develop their ideas into the realization of 6 short documentaries on the theme of human rights in Western Balkans with special emphasize on stories from Kosovo.

After the completion of seminars teams will be offered equipment to shoot and edit the film with continuous guidance through all stages of production by our team and experienced documentary professionals.

Workshops will cover themes such as: Project development, research, documentary directing, editing and dubbing.

Six 10 to 15 minutes documentaries will be produced as a result of the project.  Additionally, a DVD package will also be produced and presented at regional film festivals and national TV.

Human Rights Film Factory – Stories From the Kosovo Margins” is an advanced development and production program aimed at emerging filmmakers from from Kosovo, Albania, FYR of Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro. The program is funded by EU and managed by European Commission Liaison Office to Prishtina. DokuFest is implementing the program.

“Human Rights Film Factory – Stories From the Kosovo Margins” is a 21-month program coaching 6 short documentary projects from the initial idea to their full realizations.

The selected filmmakers are invited to participate in three workshops and a series of master classes, after which they are offered a full in-kind production grant (camera gear, editing facilities and continuous tutorship) to complete their films. One of the workshops will cover the editing phase of the project.

 

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 - the participants must be citizens and residents of one of the following countries: Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro

 - the workshops, tutorial sessions and master classes will be held in English, so the participants must have basic knowledge in this language.

each team (director, cinematographer, sound technician) will have to participate in a full series of workshops and master classes.

 - the project submitted should be at early stage of development.

 - Applicant may act as a director-producer of a project.

 

 

SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTS

A panel of experts, including invited internationals, will select a maximum of 6 projects, in teams of director/producer/sound engineer (i.e. max. 18 participants) on the basis of the application submitted, which should include:

 - Synopsis: max-2 pages

 - Motivation letter

 - the applicants' CVs

 - Previous work (if applicable) – DVD only to the postal address of DokuFest

 - Applications must be submitted in English
