Despite the heavy rain on Saturday afternoon, the 9th edition of DokuFest solemnly opened as foreseen: In the charming environment of Open Air Cinema Lumbardhi.

More than 500 film fans were present in the opening, including the festival guests, eminent people from the country and citizens of Prizren.
The festival’s Director Aliriza Arënliu welcomed the festival guests and thanked the festival staff and everyone else who made this festival possible.

The festival opened with the screening of the film “Into Eternity” by Michael Madsen.
The evening followed with special screening of 1967 classic ”I even met happy gypsies” by Zivojin Pavlovic staring Bekim Fehmiu, famous Albanian actor who recently passed away.

Fortress Cinema was promoted with the screening of “Welcome Europa” by Erich Ulmer, a documentary film that deals with the challenges of the emigrants in Europe.

The festival program continues with the regular screenings in 6 cinemas across the town, with several highlights, including the kick off of Made in Finland, Spotlight Afghanistan, Cities on Speed special programmes as well as start of the regular competitions of the festival.
